Live recording of the Hot Water Comedy Club's weekly Green Room Podcast, with hosts Jamie Hutchinson and Tony Carroll.
The Green Room Podcast is back at Blackstock Market on Friday 18 December, as part of the Hot Water Comedy Club's weekly live show. It's a live recording of the podcast, and the whole thing is billed as an immersive podcast-listening experience: you're in the room with the hosts while they record, rather than listening to a finished episode through headphones later.
On the bill are Jamie Hutchinson and Tony Carroll. Hutchinson is one of the more unpredictable voices in British stand-up, a former XS Manchester Comedian of the Year known for dark humour, sharp improvisation and chaotic storytelling. Carroll has been doing stand-up since the 1980s; in 2010 he won or was a finalist in several new-act competitions as a character comedian and has collected further awards and accolades since. The two bring very different backgrounds to the table — one a sharp, improvisational storyteller, the other a long-serving character comic — and the podcast format lets them play off each other in real time.
Because it's a live recording, you're part of the audience they're talking to, and the energy of the room becomes part of the episode. It's a different way of experiencing a podcast: instead of a polished recording, you get the raw, unedited version as it happens, with the hosts right in front of you.
