Hot jazz and Hawaiian melodies comes to the Daffodil in Canning Dock on Tuesday 27 October, a night that pairs pre-war jazz with Hawaiian melodies and original songs. The line-up brings together three acts from across Europe, and the whole thing is held in the Engine Room event space aboard the Mersey ferry the Daffodil, moored in Canning Dock (L3 4AN).
Ukulelezaza! comes over from Belgium. He's regarded as one of the continent's finest ukulele maestros, in demand at festivals worldwide, and he specialises in 1920s string band and traditional Hawaiian folk music. The Ukulele Uff Trio works in a similar vein, playing guitar, ukulele and Hawaiian guitar; they're also a regular on the festival circuit and are held in high regard as one of the best exponents of 1920s string band music today. Liverpool's own Pluckin' Ella is a three-piece that turns life, love and heartbreak into original songs.

Between them, the night covers the old and the new: the pre-war jazz and Hawaiian folk from the visiting acts, and the original songs from the local trio. The setting adds to it, too — the Engine Room event space aboard the Mersey ferry the Daffodil, moored in Canning Dock. It runs from 7pm to 11pm on Tuesday 27 October.
