Free live concert by folk and alternative rock project Hank Bee, part of the Yoko Ono Lennon Lunchtime Concert Series at the University of Liverpool.
Hank Bee plays The Tung Auditorium on Wednesday 21 October, a lunchtime set that runs for about 50 minutes. It's part of the Yoko Ono Lennon Lunchtime Concert Series at the University of Liverpool, supported by Yoko Ono Lennon via Spirit Foundations.
Hank Bee is the solo project of Hannah Brown, a Northumbrian musician originally from Morpeth who moved to Liverpool in 2016. Her music draws on the folk and country traditions of the north-east and leans into the intensity of alternative rock, pairing lyrical candour with vivid, guitar-led arrangements. The name Hank Bee started as a happy accident, born of a nickname and an old email handle, and stuck as a persona Brown describes as fitting: an androgynous queer woman taking a name that harks back to male country singers of a certain era. Her writing is shaped by place, identity and a fascination with the beauty and drudgery of the everyday.
