Two-hour graffiti art workshop at Zap Graffiti where participants of all ages work as a team to paint their own 3x3ft poster, with all materials and PPE included.
Zap Graffiti is running a graffiti art class on Saturday 2 January, from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. It's a two-hour session at their studio on Bold Street, and it's open to all ages above six, so it works as a family thing if you've got younger ones to bring along. They usually get a broad mix of ages in the room, which is part of the appeal — you're not just in there with people your own age.
The session starts with the basics: you'll work in a team to get a handle on how to use the cans and the different techniques before you move on to the main event. Once you've got the hang of it, you'll design and paint your own 3x3ft poster. It's a fair bit of wall to cover, so you'll have plenty of space to actually put what you've learned into practice rather than just scribbling in a corner.
One of the better things about it is that all the materials and PPE are included, so you don't need to turn up with your own gear. The only thing they ask is that you wear older clothes — it's spray paint, after all, and it's going to get on you. If you've got a t-shirt or a pair of trousers you don't mind getting a bit messy, that's what to wear.
