A powerful dance production by Fallen Angels Dance Theatre exploring recovery, hope and personal awakening through movement and sound.
Fallen Angels Dance Theatre bring Holding Light to the Everyman Playhouse on Saturday 17 October, the final stop of its tour. It's a new production from the award-winning company, which is led by Artistic Director Paul Bayes Kitcher and performs with artists who have lived experience of addiction and mental health recovery. The piece was built over six months of collaboration, and it uses light as both a dynamic stage partner and a metaphor for recovery, hope and personal awakening.
On stage, three creative perspectives come together: choreographer Russell Maliphant, dance artist Alice Godfrey and sound composer Feri Gyemant. The result blends powerful movement, evocative soundscapes and physical storytelling. It follows the sell-out success of Traces Through Time and a sold-out premiere at the Royal Ballet and Opera, with further tour stops at Storyhouse and the Garrett Theatre before it lands here in Liverpool.
Creative and Strategic Director Claire Morris sums up the company's aim: 'If we can tell those complex, challenging stories, then hopefully the public can understand more about recovery'. It's worth keeping in mind that the show is recommended for ages 14 and up, and it can be emotionally challenging.
