Theatre production by the George Harrison Workshop Studio that reimagines the 15th-century morality play Everyman for a contemporary audience.
Everybody opens at the George Harrison Workshop Studio on Thursday 5 November, and it runs through to Saturday 7 November. It's a theatre production staged by the studio itself, and the cast is made up of third-year Acting students at LIPA.
As for what it's actually about, the title is a nod to its source: it's a reimagining of Everyman, the 15th-century morality play. If that doesn't ring a bell, Everyman is one of the oldest surviving English plays, and it's a morality play in the truest sense — the main character is Everyman, a stand-in for all of us, who is told by Death that his time is up and he'll have to give an account of his life. He spends the rest of the play trying to find someone to accompany him into the afterlife, only to discover that the things he relied on in life — friends, family, wealth — can't follow him past the grave.

This version takes that old setup and looks at it through a contemporary lens, so while the bones of the original are still there, it's set in a world that'll feel a lot more like our own. It's a student production, which means you're seeing a cast of third-year Acting students taking on a play that's essentially about the one thing everyone has in common. The run is short — three nights in total — so if you're going to catch it, you'll need to pick your evening early. It opens on Thursday 5 November and runs until Saturday 7 November at the George Harrison Workshop Studio, part of LIPA in Liverpool.
