Heavy five-piece Every Hell, with its distorted saxophone, plays Outpost in Liverpool.
Every Hell play Outpost on Saturday 31 October, their first Liverpool date since they formed. They're a Brighton/Bristol five-piece, and if you haven't come across them yet, the distorted saxophone is the first thing to get your head around. It's not a background detail; it's right up front, running alongside crushing riffs and soaring melodies. The band describes their sound as a mix of stoner metal, indie-punk and art-rock, and that saxophone is what pushes it into something a bit more experimental than your standard heavy set.
Fronting the band is vocalist and saxophonist Will Gardner, with Toby Stewart on guitar and vocals, Andrew Gosden on bass and vocals, Mark Roberts on drums and production, and Jules Maas-Palmer on guitars and synths. They've come together from a fair few other bands, with a collective history in Black Peaks, Broker, Memory of Elephants and Skin Failure, so there's a good bit of experience behind the five of them. Their debut EP, Vertebrate, came out in October 2024, recorded live to tape, and it's where that stoner metal and indie-punk blend first takes shape.
Since then they've been playing the festival circuit, with slots at 2000trees, ArcTanGent, StrangeForms, Castlefest, Misery Loves Company and Noizzefest, and they've shared stages with Sick Joy, Knives, The St Pierre Snake Invasion and Peach. A second EP, The People's Republic of Hell, featuring the tracks 'Bane of the Bear' and 'FDR', was due to launch on 25 June, so there's newer material to go alongside the Vertebrate songs.
