A one-day CPD workshop by Vamos Theatre for teachers, artists and theatre makers on devising, mask and non-verbal theatre techniques.
Vamos Theatre are running a one-day CPD workshop on devising, mask and non-verbal theatre at the Everyman Theatre on Wednesday 25 November, from 10:30am to 4pm. It's aimed at teachers working with Key Stage 3 and above, as well as artists and theatre makers, and it's designed as a high-energy introduction to working with full mask and non-verbal performance.
The session is built around shared exploration, games and exercises that you can take straight back into the classroom or the rehearsal room. It covers mask characterisation and physicality, alongside specific techniques like clocking, stillness and isolation — the kind of practical tools you can actually use with a group rather than just talk about. If you're a teacher, it's a good way to pick up a few new strings to your bow for your next project; if you're a maker, it's a chance to get back to the physical side of things.
There's a bit of a bonus for everyone who signs up: you get a full year of free access to Vamos Theatre's digital learning module, mask.ED, so you can keep working through the material long after the day is done. It's worth keeping in mind who's leading the session, too — Vamos Theatre took home the Music and Drama Education Award in 2023, so this comes from a company that knows how to teach this stuff.
