Monthly craft club workshop to make wearable textile and mixed media mini collages on a kilt-style safety pin, with all materials included.
Crafty Cat's Workshop returns to the Black Cat Bar, Coffee and Bottle Shop on Tuesday 3 November, the second session in a new monthly craft club run by Black Cat Zine Club. It's held on the first Tuesday of every month at the Black Cat on Smithdown Road, which the organisers call 'Smithdown's friendliest' bar. The club launched in October with a witchy charm jewellery workshop, and each month brings a brand-new craft session with all materials included.
This time around, the focus is textile and mixed media collage charm pins. You'll be making mini collages and attaching them to a kilt-style safety pin to turn them into wearable art. The materials on the table are a mix of fabrics and found objects: linens, wool and velvet alongside ribbons, buttons, beads and charms. It's a session for both experienced stitchers and beginners, so you don't need to have picked up a needle before to get stuck in.
The workshops are run on a voluntary basis by the host, Laura, and the club is designed to be welcoming and adaptable to any level of experience, with the focus on building community rather than profit. That means you can work at your own pace and chat with the people around you while you make. It's for over-18s only.
