A hands-on workshop led by artist Livi Wilmore where participants learn the basics of HTML and CSS to create their own incremental number game.
Livi Wilmore is running a coding workshop at FACT on Thursday 5 November, and it's a hands-on one. The whole session is an introduction to web coding: you'll learn the basics of HTML and CSS and use them to build your own incremental number game, also known as an 'idle game' — those games where the numbers just keep climbing, often while you're not even doing anything.
Wilmore is one of the artists at FACT's Studio/Lab, and the workshop sits alongside her other work showing at the venue. She's part of the group exhibition BRB, which brings together three new works by North West artists — Wilmore, Mrs Luva-Luva and Ellie Hoskins — each exploring how constant connectivity is reshaping our understanding of ourselves, each other and the world around us. If you're into that side of things, it's a good chance to see the work and then get stuck into the making side of it.

So, the workshop is on 5 November at FACT, 88 Wood Street, Liverpool L1 4DQ. You'll be working through HTML and CSS to get your own idle game up and running, led by Wilmore herself. If you've ever wanted to see how the web actually works under the hood, this is a straightforward way in.
