Three festive evenings of live music and readings by Liverpool Wind Collective, Cameo Strings and Cantanti at Calderstones Park.
The Reader Mansion House in Calderstones Park is hosting three festive evenings this December, with the first one falling on Tuesday 1st December. The music comes from three different groups: the Liverpool Wind Collective, the string ensemble Cameo Strings, and the vocal trio Cantanti. It's not a single concert, but three separate nights spread across the first half of the month, so you can pick the one that fits your schedule best.
Each evening blends live music with festive readings, rather than just a straight-through programme. The wind collective, the strings, and the voices share the bill, and the readings sit alongside them throughout. It's the kind of thing that works well in a room like the Mansion House, which sits right in the middle of Calderstones Park, so you're tucked away from the city centre for the night.
As for who's playing, the Liverpool Wind Collective brings the brass and woodwind, Cameo Strings handles the strings, and Cantanti provides the vocals. Having all three on the same bill means you'll hear a fair bit of variety across the three evenings, with the wind, strings, and voices taking turns. The readings are woven in between the music, so it's as much about the spoken word as it is about the playing.
