A live band fronted by local legend Mike Ryan performs songs from across David Bowie's career, from 'Space Oddity' to 'Blackstar', marking the tenth anniversary of his passing.
Celebrating The Life of David Bowie comes to the Music Room at the Liverpool Philharmonic on Saturday 17 October, with two performances that afternoon and evening. It's a concert marking the tenth anniversary of Bowie's death, and the organisers have put it on to look back across the full breadth of his discography rather than sticking to one era.
On stage is a live band fronted by local legend Mike Ryan, who'll be taking the lead on songs from across Bowie's career. The set runs from the early days of Space Oddity right through to Blackstar, his final album, so it covers the whole span of his recording life rather than just the hits. If you've got a particular favourite period, you're likely to hear something from it, and the range from the folk-inflected early years to the art-rock and electronic shifts of the later records is exactly what the afternoon and evening are built around.

Having a local face like Mike Ryan fronting the band keeps it grounded in the city, and the choice of the Music Room gives it a more contained feel than the main hall. The two separate slots mean you can pick the time that suits you best, whether you're in for a matinee or a night out. The first is at 15:00 and the second at 20:00, both on the same day, so there's a choice of afternoon or evening.
