Dave Rowntree, bassist of Blur, brings his Edinburgh Fringe show about the band and the early 1990s, using photographs from his book 'No One You Know'.
Dave Rowntree, Blur's bassist, brings his Edinburgh Fringe show Blur - The Early Years to the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on Thursday 29 October. It's part of a UK tour that takes the performance out of the Fringe and around the country, and this is the Liverpool stop.
The show isn't a gig, but a talk that leans on photographs from Rowntree's new book, No One You Know. He uses them to tell the story of Blur and the early 1990s as they actually happened, rather than as the Britpop myth remembers them. If you've spent years hearing the polished version of that era, this is the one told from the inside by one of the people who lived it.
Rowntree's book, No One You Know, is the main feature here, and the show works around its pages. The photographs serve as the starting point for his account of the band's early years, so you'll see the images that go into the book while he fills in the gaps with the stories behind them. One reviewer described the result as "candid and hilarious."
