Sustainable sculpture workshop led by artist Faith Bebbington, in which participants make a 3D artwork from recycled paper and cardboard to honour identity or a Black historical figure.
Faith Bebbington is leading a sculpture workshop at The Liver Building on Thursday 22 October, as part of BlackFest 2026. It runs from 11 am to 3 pm, four hours in total, so you'll have plenty of time to get stuck in without having to rush your work.
The session is a sustainable one: you'll be making a 3D artwork from recycled paper and cardboard. The idea is that each piece honours either your own identity or a Black historical figure who inspires you, so what you end up with is personal rather than just a generic exercise. It's built around exploring identity, heritage and Black history through art, and it sits within the wider BlackFest 2026 programme.
Because it's a four-hour slot, there's room to take your time with the making and the thinking behind it. You're working with recycled materials, so it's as much about the process as the finished piece. If you've got a particular figure in mind, you can build around them; if not, you can work from your own story. Either way, you'll leave with something you've made yourself.
