Alan Wilcox and Ivan Brady play the hits of Elvis Presley and Billy Fury in the Cavern Club Live Lounge.
Alan Wilcox and Ivan Brady are bringing their show Billy Fury Meets Elvis Presley to the Cavern Club Live Lounge on Sunday 25 October. It's a double bill of two icons from opposite sides of the pond, with the duo playing the hits of Elvis Presley and his Liverpudlian counterpart Billy Fury.
There's a nice local connection to the pairing, too. Fury was a Scouser, and both he and Presley were huge influences on the early Merseybeat scene. Wilcox and Brady point out that these two paved the way for the biggest cultural phenomenon of the 20th century: Beatlemania. Hearing them side by side in the Cavern, in the very city where that sound took off, puts the whole thing in perspective.
The show is an acclaimed one, and it's built around the songs that made both names. You'll get the hits from Presley's American career and the hits from Fury's British one, played by the two of them. It's a straightforward celebration of two of the biggest names in early rock and roll, and the set draws from both their catalogues.
