UK tour stop of the Olivier Award-winning stage musical adaptation of the 1985 film, with Roger Bart as Doc Brown and Axel Duffy as Marty McFly.
Back To The Future The Musical opens at the Liverpool Empire on Tuesday 12 January 2027, with the run continuing until Saturday 6 February. It's an Olivier Award-winning stage adaptation of the 1985 film, and this Liverpool stop is part of the show's first-ever UK tour.
The story follows teenager Marty McFly, who is sent back to 1955 in a time machine built by the eccentric scientist Doc Brown. From there, he has to race against time to fix the present and find his way home. The original film was the highest-grossing movie of its year, taking over $381 million worldwide and spawning two sequels. On stage, it won Best New Musical at the 2022 Olivier Awards, as well as the WhatsOnStage and Broadway World Awards.
It's a production that stays close to the source. The show was conceived by the movie's original creators, Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, and is directed by Tony Award winner John Rando. Gale wrote the book, and original music and lyrics come from multi-Grammy winners Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard. The score draws on the film's own soundtrack, with 'The Power of Love', 'Johnny B. Goode', 'Earth Angel' and 'Back in Time' all making an appearance.
