Immersive theatrical cocktail bar where guests arrive as new inmates and inmate-mixologists turn smuggled liquor into four bespoke cocktails.
Alcotraz: Cell Block Three-Six is running at Alcotraz Penitentiary on 36 Seel Street, a fictional prison in the city centre where you're processed as a new inmate. You'll arrive in an orange jumpsuit, and the whole thing is built around the idea of smuggling: you bring in an unopened bottle of your favourite liquor past the guards, and the inmate-mixologists turn it into four bespoke, personalised cocktails served straight to your cell.
It's an immersive theatrical cocktail bar, so the acting is as much a part of the night as the drinks. The Warden and the crooked guards run the place, and Inmate Cassidy is one of the characters you'll encounter. The set is filled out with a Prison Radio and a laundry room, and it leans on the Hollywood prison stories that inspired it. The whole thing follows the legend of the bootlegger Clyde Cassidy, and it's become a viral sensation with sister cells in London, Brighton, Manchester, Cardiff and Bristol. Inventive Productions, the team behind London's Avora and Moonshine Saloon, are the ones behind it.
