Africa Oyé, the UK's biggest celebration of African and Caribbean music and culture, marks its 35th anniversary with live music, workshops, activities and more than 90 stalls.
Africa Oyé returns to Sefton Park on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 June 2027, and this time it's a big one: the festival celebrates its 35th anniversary. It's the UK's biggest celebration of African and Caribbean music and culture, and 2027 marks three and a half decades since it first started bringing international artists to Liverpool. Over the years it's sat alongside Liverpool Sound City and International Beatleweek as one of the city's major music-festival draws, and Liverpool's designation as a UNESCO City of Music underpins its global cultural significance.
The 2026 edition drew more than 25,000 people across the weekend, with the Saturday completely selling out. That year also marked the festival's transition from its long-running free-entry model to a ticketed event, a shift artistic director Paul Duhaney described as 'truly emotional' to see so many people come along for. The 2027 edition returns to Sefton Park with the Oyé DJ stage, workshops and activities in the Oyé Family Zone, and more than 90 stalls in the Oyé Village.
