Organist Ian Tracey plays an hour of festive organ music, with 'The Holy Boy', 'Nutcracker' and 'Sleigh Ride', at the Liverpool Philharmonic.
Ian Tracey is taking to the organ at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on Tuesday 22 December 2027, for a lunchtime concert he's calling A Christmas Organ Treat. It's an hour of festive organ music, and the programme pulls from a few different corners of the Christmas songbook.
Among the melodies he'll be working through are John Ireland's The Holy Boy, Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker suite, and Leroy Anderson's Sleigh Ride. It's a mix that runs from the more contemplative side of the season to the familiar, upbeat tunes that usually come to mind when December rolls around, and hearing them all on the organ gives them a different weight than you'd get from a piano or an orchestra.
Tracey is the only one on the bill, so it's just him and the organ for the full hour. The concert is sponsored by Maestro! Touring.

It's a lunchtime slot, so it's one of those things you can fit into a break rather than building your whole evening around. It starts at 13:00 and runs for an hour, on Tuesday 22 December at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.
