Animated fantasy film Wildwood, directed by Travis Knight, from the makers of Coraline, screens at Hyde Park Picture House.
Wildwood opens at Hyde Park Picture House on Friday 23 October, and it's running through to Wednesday 4 November. It's the next animated feature from LAIKA, the studio behind Coraline, and it's based on the bestselling novel by Colin Meloy, lead singer and songwriter for The Decemberists. Travis Knight directs, with Peyton Elizabeth Lee, Jacob Tremblay and Carey Mulligan voicing the leads.
The story follows Prue, a young girl who journeys into a hidden forest to rescue her younger brother, only to find herself caught between warring factions and extraordinary creatures. It's described as a tale of love, loss, sacrifice and secrets, and of the magic you can find on your doorstep if you're willing to look for it. If you remember the stop-motion of Coraline, you've got a good idea of the kind of thing LAIKA does — this is their next big one.
