Screening of the Stick Man film with a live performance by The Leeds Conservatoire Orchestra, plus Christmas classics before and after.
Stick Man in Concert comes to Leeds City Museum on Saturday 12 December, with the Leeds Conservatoire Orchestra playing live to a screening of the film. The live performance runs for about 45 minutes, and the orchestra doesn't stop when the credits roll: they play Christmas classics before and after the film, so you get a bit more than just the movie itself.
Stick Man is based on the children's picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, and the film comes from Magic Light Pictures, the same team behind The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo's Child and Room on the Broom. It follows Stick Man's journey across the seasons, with Martin Freeman voicing the title character, Hugh Bonneville as Santa, and Rob Brydon, Sally Hawkins, Jennifer Saunders and Russell Tovey in the supporting cast. The live orchestra takes over the score, so the music you hear on screen is being played right there in the room.
