Frank Capra's classic 1946 Christmas film starring James Stewart, shown at Hyde Park Picture House as part of the reRUN classics strand.
It's a Wonderful Life returns to Hyde Park Picture House from Friday 11 December to Thursday 24 December, running right up to Christmas Eve. Frank Capra's 1946 US drama is a perennial festive favourite, and it's back in Headingley for a two-week run.
James Stewart stars as George Bailey, a man who's spent his life supporting the community of Bedford Falls and finds everything falling apart on Christmas Eve. He's visited by his guardian angel and shown what life would be like if he'd never been born. It's a long one, running 2 hours and 10 minutes, and stars Donna Reed and Lionel Barrymore alongside Stewart. The print comes from Park Circus.
Critics have called it one of the best Christmas films and one of the best films of all time, with Roger Ebert describing it as an 'ageless movie' that improves with age. The screenings are part of the cinema's reRUN classics strand, which brings back older titles for a new round of audiences.
