Comedic fable about a fisherwoman who commissions a husband from a basketmaker, screened at Hyde Park Picture House with accessible and 'Pay What You Can' options.
Wicker opens at Hyde Park Picture House on Friday 30 October, and it's staying put through to Wednesday 18 November. It's a comedic fable about sex, marriage and the absurdities of social convention, set on the outskirts of a seaside village. The story follows an ostracised fisherwoman who commissions a husband to be made by the local basketmaker; her wicker husband proves more spectacular than she imagined, awakening feelings that threaten the fabric of village life.
Behind the camera are directors Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson, and the cast is a heavy one: Olivia Colman, Alexander Skarsgård, Peter Dinklage and Elizabeth Debicki. It's distributed by Black Bear Pictures, rated 15, and runs for 1 hour 45 minutes.

One of the things that makes this run a bit different is that it's part of the cinema's 'Bring Your Own Baby' strand, so you can bring your little ones along. There are accessible screenings too, including toddler-friendly, autism-friendly, audio description and captioned shows, and a 'Pay What You Can' option if you're watching your spending. If you're coming with a baby, the BYOB setup means you don't have to leave them at home to catch a film. Between the cast and the baby-friendly screenings, it's one of those runs that works whether you're coming on your own or with the whole family.
