Stand-up comedian Tom Lawrinson brings his tour show 'Speak of the Devil' to the City Varieties Music Hall.
Tom Lawrinson brings his new comedy show, Speak of the Devil, to City Varieties Music Hall on Tuesday 2 March 2027. It's his biggest tour yet, and the Leeds date runs from 19:30 to 21:30.
Lawrinson bills the show as a whirlwind tour of his innermost thoughts, and the range of things he touches on is a good part of the draw. He goes from fairy tales to gentlemen's clubs, and stops at the late-90s children's TV show 50-50 along the way. There are two questions he sets out to answer: 'is magic real?' and, if it is, 'has he been shagged?'.
If you haven't seen him before, the reviews give a fair idea of what to expect. Rolling Stone called him 'truly unique... joyfully daft', and Chortle described him as 'effortlessly engaging'. The Scotsman focused on the writing, calling the pace and quality of his jokes 'fast and high' and saying he's 'turned playful menace into an art form'. An Edinburgh Fringe review summed up the room as a 'roaring belly laugh'.
