A special double-bill of family animation classics for Baby Week at Hyde Park Picture House, featuring two short animated films suitable for young children.
Hyde Park Picture House is pairing two family animation classics on Friday 13 November, as part of Baby Week. It's a double-bill of The Tiger Who Came For Tea and We're Going on a Bear Hunt, both short enough to sit through in one go.
The Tiger Who Came For Tea (2019) is 26 minutes long. It follows young Sophie and her mummy when a mysterious tiger turns up unannounced for afternoon tea and proceeds to eat the contents of their fridge and the whole house. There's a 'Hey Tiger' karaoke music video included too.
We're Going on a Bear Hunt (2016) runs for 33 minutes and brings the bestselling bedtime book by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury to the screen. It follows siblings Stan, Katie, Rosie and baby Max, plus Rufus the dog, on an expedition to catch a bear, and comes with an exclusive intro and outro from Michael Rosen himself.

The session is part of Baby Week, a national campaign that brings together health, education, early years and community organisations to champion the importance of giving every child the best possible start in life. The cinema runs these as toddler-friendly screenings, which means shorter run times, raised lighting, reduced volume, audio description and captioned subtitles. It's designed for the little ones who aren't quite ready for a full-dark, loud cinema experience.
It starts at 11:00 at Hyde Park Picture House, 73 Brudenell Road, Headingley, LS6 1JD. Tickets are £2.50 per child and £10.00 per adult, and adults can only attend if they're accompanying a child.
