Intimate evening with Paul Young combining conversation and acoustic versions of his classic hits.
Paul Young plays City Varieties Music Hall on Saturday 29 May 2027, as part of his Songs and Stories tour. It's not a standard gig; the night mixes conversation with acoustic versions of his songs, and he spends time meeting fans, singing, and telling stories about his career.
Young first made his mark 40 years ago when 'No Parlez' went to number one, followed by hits like 'Wherever I Lay My Hat (That's My Home)'. More success came with the number one album The Secret of Association and the worldwide hit 'Every Time You Go Away', and he also appeared at Live Aid. Alongside that, he's spent years with his tex-mex band Los Pacaminos, which he describes as a bit of fun.
These shows are built around that mix of talking and playing, with the acoustic arrangements stripping the songs back. He'll be singing and telling the stories behind the music, and there's a good bit of time set aside for him to meet the people in the room.
