Drop-in guided reflective walk led by Brahma Kumaris to try Raja Yoga meditation while exploring Kirkstall Abbey.
Reflective Walks are running at Kirkstall Abbey on Wednesday mornings, 10:30 to 13:00, from 30 September to 16 December 2026. That's a run of Wednesdays across autumn and winter: 30 September, 21 and 28 October, 4, 11, 18 and 25 November, and 2, 9 and 16 December. The walks are led by Brahma Kumaris in association with the Abbey, and they're open to everyone — no booking needed, just turn up when you fancy it.
The idea is straightforward: a guided walk around the grounds, a bit of fresh air, and a taster of Raja Yoga meditation, all while reflecting on the qualities we all carry inside us. It's a drop-in session, so you can come for one or keep coming back over the weeks.
The setting does a lot of the heavy lifting here. Kirkstall Abbey is one of the most complete examples of a medieval Cistercian abbey in Britain, set in parkland along the banks of the River Aire. Its visitor centre tells the story of the 12th-century monks and houses a touch table that catalogues images of the abbey from the 18th century to the present day. The site works as a 'Give What You Can' museum, so visitors are invited to donate through Tap to Give points rather than pay a fixed admission price. Across the road stands Abbey House Museum, and the grounds themselves offer walking trails, a tennis court and wildlife to wander through.

As for the walks, they're included in entry to the Abbey, with a suggested donation of £5. They run from 10:30 to 13:00 on those Wednesdays, so if you're around the area on a weekday morning and fancy a slow pace for a few hours, you know where to find them.
