Community workshop with the Skippko Arts Team to make miniature hand-decorated people for the Leeds 400 celebrations.
People Of Leeds is on at Leeds City Museum on Friday 30 October, from 13:00 to 15:00. It's a workshop run by the Skippko Arts Team, with artists Anne and Annie leading the session. The idea is simple: you come along and make your own little person.
There's a bigger picture to it, though. The workshop is part of the Leeds 400 celebrations. On 13 July 2026, the city marked 400 years since it received its first Royal Charter from King Charles I — the start of its journey towards self-governance and city status. To mark that milestone, the Skippko Arts Team are creating 400 miniature hand-decorated people alongside people and groups from across Leeds of all ages. The only criterion for taking part is a link to the city, so as long as you've got one, you're in. Once they're all finished, the characters will go on display at Leeds City Museum from 26 December to 27 April.
The session takes place in the It Takes a Community exhibition space, a show running from 2 October to 20 June that marks 20 years of community partnership across Leeds Museums and Galleries. It's co-curated with partners from across the city and built from artwork, personal objects, quotes and films by students and community contributors. So you'll be making your person right in the middle of a show that's all about the city's people and their contributions.
