Documentary screening of the award-winning film NAZA, which examines the systems behind the mass killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, directed by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor.
NAZA screens at Hyde Park Picture House on Thursday 15 October, a documentary that looks at the systems behind the mass killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza. It's directed by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, who spent three years filming it, much of it at night from the rooftops of Tel Aviv. They've described it as a film that reveals in detail the systems behind Israel's calculated mass killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
Abraham and Szor were two of the four co-directors of the 2024 Oscar winner No Other Land — one an investigative journalist, the other a cinematographer. They say they made this out of a sense of obligation to use their position as Israelis to examine these systems from the inside. Along the way, they found themselves asking the kind of questions their grandparents' generation and the 20th century have asked: how does one group of people allow the total dehumanisation of another, and what do the inner workings of such a system look like?
Much of the film's material reached the public in the months following the October 7 attacks, published in The Guardian — one of the film's producers — in collaboration with +972 Magazine and Local Call. It's distributed by Dogwoof, and reviewers have called it one of 2026's most vital film releases.
