Family film screenings in the historic Palace Picture House mini cinema during school holidays, included in museum admission.
Mystery Matinees are back at the Leeds Industrial Museum on Saturday 24 October, with another session following on Saturday 19 December. Both run from 14:00, and they're set up as family film screenings during the school holidays, so they work as a drop-in thing rather than something you need to book in advance.
The screenings take place in the Palace Picture House, which is billed as the smallest cinema in the North of England. It holds just 26 seats and has a history that goes back to the 1920s, so it's a proper little cinema tucked inside the museum rather than a modern screen. The museum itself is housed in the historic woollen mill at Armley Mills, and it's all about the science and industry that shaped Leeds. You'll find a historic locomotive and engine shed on site, and the spinning mule — a star object that drove the woollen industry in the 1900s — is one of the main things to see.

Because the matinees run on a drop-in basis, you don't have to plan your whole day around a specific time; you can just turn up with the family when it suits you. The screenings are included in the price of museum admission, so you get the film and the rest of the museum in one go. Just keep in mind that the museum is closed on Mondays, so that's the one day of the week it's not open. The next date is Saturday 19 December, also from 14:00, if the October one doesn't fit your schedule.
