Stand-up show by broadcaster Janet Street-Porter, a rant against growing old gracefully on the cusp of her 80th birthday.
Janet Street-Porter comes to City Varieties Music Hall on Wednesday 3 February 2027, with her show Janet Street-Porter is Still Off the Leash at 80!. It's a comedy talk marking her 80th birthday, and the whole thing is built around a rant against growing old gracefully.
If you don't know her, Street-Porter has spent decades as a broadcaster, television executive and newspaper editor, and she's been at the front of some of Britain's most enduring cultural moments. She's billed as the nation's favourite 'pissed-off pensioner', and this show leans right into that. On the cusp of turning 80, she's back on the road with comedy, tragedy and gossip in what's described as a tour de force rant against growing old gracefully — a style that's often imitated but rarely equalled. Her good friend Elton is quoted as saying 'the b*tch is back'.
The show is recommended for ages 14 and over with parental guidance. City Varieties has a fair bit of accessibility on hand: audio description, British sign language, captioning, a relaxed performance option, an accessible toilet, baby changing, a hearing aid loop, wheelchair access and a welcome for guide dogs.
