Stand-up show in which Hannah East, from her viral comedy reels, sketches the highs and lows of parenting.
Hannah East brings her new show Express Yourself to City Varieties Music Hall on Monday 2 November, starting at 7:30pm. It's a stand-up set that runs about an hour and forty minutes, including an interval, so you've got a full evening of it rather than a quick stop-in.
The whole thing is a deep dive into the highs and lows of parenting, and it draws on the millions of views her viral comedy reels have picked up. She doesn't shy away from the messy bits: pregnancy, labour, breastfeeding, the postpartum struggle, and the day-to-day grind of raising children. The sketches hit home because they're honest and funny, and she's known for saying the things mums are thinking but rarely say out loud. If you've spent any time in the thick of it, you'll probably recognise a lot of what she's talking about.
On stage, that translates to brand-new skits, more wigs, celebrity send-ups, and plenty of relatable, laugh-out-loud mum impressions. It's a character-led show, so expect her to jump between different voices and personas throughout the night. Phil McIntyre presents the evening, and there's age guidance of 14+ with parental guidance recommended, so it's not one to bring the little ones along to.
