Graham Gouldman performs his catalogue of songs with his band Heart Full of Songs in a semi-acoustic electric set.
Graham Gouldman brings his band Heart Full of Songs to City Varieties Music Hall on Monday 19 October, starting at 7:30pm. For those who know him as a 10cc co-founder, this is a different side of things: the set draws from his entire songwriting career, not just one band.
Heart Full of Songs started more than a decade ago as a three-piece supporting 10cc concerts, and Gouldman describes it as something he did for the pleasure of playing the songs he wrote or co-wrote in their simplest form, acoustically. Since then it's grown into a standalone entity, and these days it's a semi-acoustic, electric four-piece. The set reaches across his whole catalogue, so you'll hear 10cc's 'I'm Not In Love' and 'Dreadlock Holiday' alongside The Hollies' 'Bus Stop' and 'Look Through Any Window', The Yardbirds' 'For Your Love' and 'Heart Full of Soul', and Herman's Hermits' 'No Milk Today'. There's also 'Bridge To Your Heart' from his time as Wax with the late Andrew Gold, plus songs from film soundtracks and his solo albums.
The show runs about an hour and 50 minutes, including the interval, and parental guidance is recommended. It's one of 18 dates on a UK tour that finishes at London's Cadogan Hall on 29 October, so the Leeds stop is well before the run wraps up.
