Stand-up show by Deirdre O'Kane in which she contrasts everyday domestic failures with larger moments of historical injustice.
Deirdre O'Kane is back at City Varieties Music Hall on Friday 26 March 2027, with a brand-new stand-up show called All the Rage. It's a new hour of material, so if you've seen her before, this is a different set from the ground up.
O'Kane describes the show as grabbing the zeitgeist of a world that feels decidedly off-kilter. She builds the set around a contrast: the small, everyday failures of domestic life held up against larger moments of historical injustice. In between, she takes aim at the double tragedies of heartbreak and getting Christmas all wrong. Nothing is sacred and no one is safe from her mischievous eye, as she turns irritation, absurdity and outrage into observed, hilarious stand-up. It's the kind of comedy that finds the funny in the things that usually just annoy us.
City Varieties is a family-friendly venue, and it's well-equipped for anyone who needs a bit of extra support to make the night work. There's audio description, British sign language, captioning, and a relaxed performance option. For those with mobility or sensory needs, there's an accessible toilet, baby changing, a hearing aid loop, wheelchair access, and guide dogs are welcome. If you're bringing the kids or need a specific setup, it's worth knowing what's on the table before you book.
