Candlelit tribute concert by the String Infusion Quartet of Hans Zimmer's film scores, including pieces from Inception, The Lion King and Interstellar, at Leeds City Museum.
Candlelight: The Best of Hans Zimmer comes to Leeds City Museum on Friday 4 December, with the String Infusion Quartet taking on a programme of Zimmer's film scores. It's a tribute concert, so it's not affiliated with Zimmer himself, but it's a good way to hear some of his biggest themes live in the city centre.
The setlist covers a fair bit of ground. You'll get Time and Cornfield Chase from Inception, This Land from The Lion King, Zooster's Breakout from Madagascar, Supermarine from Dunkirk, Honor from The Pacific, A Dark Knight from The Dark Knight, Wonder Woman Suite, Cornfield Chase from Interstellar, Dune Suite, Gladiator Suite, Discombobulate from Sherlock Holmes, and Pirates of the Caribbean Suite. It's a broad run, from the big orchestral moments to the more atmospheric stuff.

The whole thing is played by candlelight, with hundreds of flickering candles around the room. The venue is Leeds City Museum in Millennium Square, which usually holds six galleries and a collection covering Leeds' history, ancient civilisations and diverse cultures, plus a cosy café and creative sessions for families. The concert itself runs 75 minutes, including a short intermission, and doors open 45 minutes before the start. Late entry isn't permitted, so it's worth getting there a bit early. Seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis within each zone, and there are optional Candlelight Drinks Packages with curated pairings at a lower cost than on-site prices, with dedicated collection points to avoid the bar queues. Tickets start from £22.50, and the music kicks off at 20:30.
