Free Halloween-themed book club meeting at The Midnight Bell in Holbeck to discuss 'I Am Legend', 'Halloween Party' and 'The Outsider'.
Book Club Leeds are back at The Midnight Bell on Monday 26 October, from 6:30pm to 10pm. It's their October meet, and this time they've gone full Halloween: the three books on the table are I Am Legend by Richard Matheson, Halloween Party by Agatha Christie and The Outsider by Stephen King. That covers a fair bit of ground, from post-apocalyptic loneliness to a classic Christie whodunnit and a proper King creep, so there's something for whoever you fancy reading.
If you've never been, the format is easy. The club runs reader meet-ups across Leeds and invites anyone to pick one of the month's chosen books and bring their opinions. There's no pressure to read more than one, and they welcome questions and new members alike. The gatherings are built on a friendly atmosphere where readers share what they thought of the selection, good, bad or savage.
It's part of a wider Leeds book club scene that's more of a community experience than a formal society. It brings together book lovers of all ages and backgrounds, meeting monthly in pub function rooms or basement clubs to discuss everything from contemporary fiction to historical non-fiction. You can find them on Instagram at @bookclubleeds.
