Live concert by former Amen Corner singer Andy Fairweather Low and The Low Riders at the historic City Varieties Music Hall.
Andy Fairweather Low and his band, The Low Riders, play City Varieties Music Hall on Sunday 25 October, with the music starting at 7:30pm. Fairweather Low takes the lead on guitar and vocals, and he's backed by Ian Jennings on bass, Henry Spinetti on drums, Nick Pentelow on tenor sax, baritone sax and clarinet, and Pete Cook on baritone sax. It's a full band, with two saxes in the mix.
Fairweather Low first made his name as the lead singer of Amen Corner, whose 1960s run turned out a string of hits including 'Bend Me Shape Me', 'Hello Suzy' and '(If Paradise is) Half As Nice' — all three still well-remembered. Since then, he's played alongside a vast array of artists: Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, David Crosby, Elton John, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, The Who, BB King, Joe Cocker, Steve Winwood, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Jeff Beck, Van Morrison, Chris Barber, Jackson Browne, Bill Wyman, Sheryl Crow, Pete Townshend, Kate Bush and Mary J. Blige. It's a long list of names from across a few decades of guitar and soul music.
