Historical crime writer Chris Nickson launches the paperback of 'The Faces of the Dead' with a book signing at Truman Books, part of Farsley Lit Fest.
Chris Nickson is coming to Truman Books on Tuesday 27 October, from 18:30 to 20:30, to launch the paperback of The Faces of the Dead. There'll be a book signing on the night, so it's a good chance to get your copy signed in person. The evening is part of the fifth annual Farsley Lit Fest, run by Truman Books and The Old Woollen, which stages over 25 talks and events across six weeks.
Nickson's been writing professionally since 1994, when he started as a music journalist specialising in world and roots music. His first novel, The Broken Token (2010), introduced Richard Nottingham, Constable of Leeds in the 1730s, and set the mould for historical crime stories that have since spanned the 1730s to the 1950s. Cold Cruel Winter was named one of Library Journal's Best Mysteries of the Year, and the audio version of The Broken Token made the Independent on Sunday's Audiobooks of the Year.
He doesn't stop at Nottingham, either. He also writes the Tom Harper novels (1890-1920), the Simon Westow books (1820s), the Cathy Marsden thrillers (1940s), the Dan Markham noir series (1950s), and the John the Carpenter mysteries, set in medieval Chesterfield. Publisher's Weekly called his historical mysteries some of the best on offer, and he's been recommended by Joanne Harris.
