Phil Mealey, star of the sitcom 'Early Doors', brings his new live show with behind-the-scenes stories, favourite clips and songs from the series.
Phil Mealey is bringing Early Doors to the City Varieties Music Hall on Friday 4 June 2027, from 19:30 to 21:30. He's the BAFTA-winning writer and performer best known as the co-creator and star of the sitcom, and this is a brand-new live show that takes you back into The Grapes for an evening of laughter, nostalgia, and behind-the-scenes stories.
It's a mix of things. Mealey will be showing favourite clips and unseen moments from the series, alongside stories from the making of the show. There's also live music from Early Doors, with songs from the series sung by Mealey himself. He describes it as a funny, warm, and revealing evening that celebrates the characters, friendships, and everyday humour that made the show such a cult favourite.
If you've spent any time with the series, you'll know the kind of thing he's talking about: the small-talk, the regulars, and the slow pace of pub life that the show built its whole world around. This is a chance to see how it all came together, with the man who helped create it telling the story from the inside. The music is a part of that, too, not just a side addition.
