A session of the award-winning horror board game Betrayal at House on the Hill for ages 12+, part of the library's Halloween Happenings series.
Betrayal at Sugar Creek is a session of the horror board game Betrayal at House on the Hill happening at the Sugar Creek Branch of the Kansas City Public Library on Monday, October 26, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. It's recommended for ages 12 and up, and you'll need to RSVP to get a spot.
If you've never played Betrayal at House on the Hill, it's an award-winning horror title that changes every time you play. You start by working together to explore a haunted house that shifts with every turn, but as the haunt deepens, you might discover that one of your friends has betrayed you. The game is built around that twist, so you're never quite sure who to trust as the night goes on. This particular session is part of the library's 'Halloween Happenings' series, which puts it right in the middle of the season's spooky programming.
The Sugar Creek Branch itself is a storefront library serving Sugar Creek and western Independence. It came about by community demand: residents petitioned the Library's board of trustees in 1996, seven years after a storefront library in the Fairmount shopping center had closed. When voters approved an 11-cent increase in the Library's property tax levy that June, the board moved quickly to open it. These days, the branch offers notary by appointment, passports and voter registration, plus assistive technology, computers and Wi-Fi.
