Monthly gathering of knitters, crocheters and fibre artists of all skill levels to meet, work on projects and share what they have made.
Yarnslingers is back at the Glendale Branch on Tuesday, November 17, from 6 PM to 7:45 PM. It's the Indianapolis Public Library's monthly gathering for knitters, crocheters and fibre artists of all skill levels, and it's exactly what it sounds like: people coming together to work on their projects, show off what they've made and talk shop. If you've got a half-finished scarf or a sweater you've been putting off, this is a good place to bring it.
The session is open to everyone, whether you're a seasoned pro or just picking up a hook for the first time. The whole point is to work alongside other people who do the same thing, so you can chat about your work and see what others are making while you keep your own project moving. It's a low-pressure way to get some hours in on your crafting without having to do it alone at home.
The Glendale Branch itself has a bit of a story. It opened in 2000 in Glendale Mall as the country's first full-service library inside a major shopping center, and in 2024 it moved to a new 24,800-square-foot space on the site of the former John Strange Elementary School in the Broad Ripple community. That's where you'll find it now: 3660 East 62nd Street, Indianapolis, IN 46220.

This is a monthly thing, so if the November date doesn't work, there's another one on Tuesday, December 15, from 6 PM to 7:45 PM. Both are at the Glendale Branch, and both run for the same hour and a half.
