Small Wonders: Explosive Art

Small Wonders: Explosive Art runs at the Indiana State Museum on Wednesday, November 4, from 10 AM to 11 AM. It's part of the museum's early childhood program, aimed at kids aged 3 to 5 and their families, who play and learn together in Firefly Landing, the museum's dedicated early childhood space. The sessions lean into the messy side of making art, letting little ones experiment with real tools and get their hands dirty.

If you're planning to go, keep in mind that Small Wonders isn't a one-off; this particular session is one of two, with another on November 14, also from 10 AM to 11 AM. Both run in the same spot, so you can pick the date that works best for your schedule. The whole thing is designed for you to be right there with your child, rather than dropping them off.

It's also worth knowing where this fits into the museum's wider fall and winter season, which is supported by Indiana529. Celebration Crossing opens November 27, and that's when the holiday side of things really kicks in: Santa arrives by helicopter on the front lawn, with live music, dancing elves, games and a festive fashion show. Along with that, there are Magical Mornings for children aged 6 and under, Santa's Holiday Breakfast in the Great Hall and a Snowflake Pajama Party. So if you're already planning a few museum trips this season, you can slot Small Wonders in before the holiday rush takes over.

For the session itself, it's $13 per child, which includes museum admission, plus a $4 parking validation. Any accompanying family members get 50% off general museum admission. The program runs from 10 AM to 11 AM on November 4 and November 14 at the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites in Indianapolis.
