Live cooking battles, tastings, chef demos, interactive experiences, family activities and live music over the weekend.
The World Food Championships are back at the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center from October 15 to 18, 2026. It's the world's largest food sport competition, and it's taking over the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion at 1202 E. 38th St. in Indianapolis. The whole weekend is built around live cooking battles, tastings, chef demos, interactive experiences, family activities, and live music.
If you're not familiar with how this works, it's a wide-open field. Home cooks and backyard pitmasters compete right alongside food truck operators and Michelin-starred chefs, all under the same rules. Every entry is scored on Execution, Appearance, and Taste—the E.A.T. system the organizers say removes bias from the judging. To get in, teams can earn a Golden Ticket at an Official Qualifying Event, and the judges have to complete an E.A.T. Methodology Certification Course run with the American Culinary Federation.
Indianapolis has become the home of the championships since 2024, and the local scene has already made its mark. In 2024, Chef Collin Hilton of Cunningham Restaurant Group took the Noodle Category Championship. He followed that up in 2025 by winning the overall World Food Champion title and a $150,000 prize. Other local talent stepped up that same year, too: Cindy Hawkins of Circle City Sweets took the Dessert Championship, and Ivy Tech instructor Daniel McDonald won the Bacon Championship.

Before that, the competition stopped in Las Vegas, Dallas, Kissimmee, and Alabama's Gulf Coast. It's been running since 2012, and it's grown into the scale you'll see this weekend. The action runs from Thursday, October 15 through Sunday, October 18 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center.
