Art session for school-age children aged 6 to 12 led by library staff at the College Avenue Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library.
Wednesday Whimsies: Art for All is at the College Avenue Branch on Wednesday, November 4, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM. It's part of a regular program for school-age kids, ages 6 to 12, that runs every other Wednesday at the library. The sessions are designed so kids can hang out, be social, and try something new together.
Each month, the library staff lead an exploration of either an art topic, in the Art for All session, or a STEAM topic, in the Steam Team session. This particular one falls into the art side of things, so the hour is spent working through an art topic with the group. The name comes from the Merriam-Webster definition of a whimsy—'a fanciful or fantastic device, object, or creation, especially in writing or art'—and the library frames the whole program around curiosity, creativity, community, and a sense of wonder and fun.

The College Avenue Branch itself has a bit of a history. It opened as the Broadway Branch in 1924, moved in 1958 to a 6,500-square-foot facility on Broadway Street, and was replaced in August 2000 by the current 16,000-square-foot building on College Avenue. That's where you'll find the session: 4180 North College Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46205, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM on Wednesday, November 4.
