Hands-on session for school-age children to explore waterways by building bridges and dams and designing a boat with the Indiana State Museum.
Waterway Exploration comes to the College Avenue Branch on Monday, October 26, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM. It's a hands-on session for school-age children, put on by the Indianapolis Public Library in partnership with the Indiana State Museum.
The whole hour is built around the world of waterways, and the kids tackle it by working through a few different challenges that get at how rivers actually work. They'll build bridges and dams, design a boat, and test their own creativity and problem-solving skills along the way. It's a session where they're doing the work rather than just listening to it, so it's a good fit for kids who'd rather build something than sit through a lecture.
The program is hosted at the College Avenue Branch, which is part of the Indianapolis Public Library system. The branch opened in August 2000 as a 16,000-square-foot building on the site of the former Broadway Branch, which had been there since 1924. It's located at 4180 North College Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46205.
