Hands-on woodworking workshop for teenagers to learn basic skills and build a functional planter box.
Deeply Ingrained is leading a Teen Build It workshop at the Nora Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library on Saturday, November 7, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM. It's a hands-on class for teenagers, and the goal is straightforward: you'll learn basic woodworking skills and leave with a functional planter box you built yourself.
If you've never picked up a tool before, this is a good place to start. The session is designed for teens, so it's as much about getting comfortable with the basics as it is about the project. You'll spend the afternoon working with wood, and by the time you're done, you'll have something you can actually use—a planter box for your own plants, made from scratch. It's a tangible result you can take home and keep.
One of the best parts is that you don't need to bring a thing. All the materials, tools, and equipment are provided, so you can just show up and get to work. The only thing they recommend is wearing closed-toe shoes, which makes sense when you're working with tools and wood. It's a low-barrier way to try something new without having to invest in your own gear first.

The workshop runs from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the Nora Branch, 8625 Guilford Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46240. If you've got a teen who's interested in building things, this is a solid way to get them started.
