Low-impact mind-body session blending traditional Tai Chi and Qigong with modern Western fitness, suitable for any age or fitness level.
Christine Bhe leads a Tai Chi Flow session at the Glendale Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library this Saturday, October 24, from 2 PM to 3 PM. It's a mind-body exercise that blends traditional Tai Chi and Qigong with modern Western fitness, and it's designed to be low-impact, so it works for any age or fitness level. You can do the whole thing standing or seated in a chair, which makes it a good option if you're not usually one for a workout.
One of the easiest parts is that there are no routines or forms to learn. You don't have to memorize a sequence or worry about getting a specific move exactly right; instead, you just follow Bhe's guided movement and sensory cueing. The goal is to bring your muscular, cardiovascular, and nervous systems into synergy with your mind and spirit, with the practical result of improving your balance, coordination, and overall well-being.
There's no equipment needed other than loose, comfortable clothing, flat walking shoes, and some water. The session was moved to Glendale from Fort Ben because of early voting, so if you're used to seeing it there, this is the one to keep on your radar. The class returns to Fort Ben in November and December, so this is a one-off location change for October.
