Preschool storytime session with stories, songs, games and early literacy activities for children aged 3 to 6.
Storytime for preschoolers is back at the Franklin Road Branch on Thursday, November 5, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. It's aimed at kids aged 3 to 6, and the hour mixes stories and songs with games and other early literacy activities. If you've got a preschooler at home, it's a good way to get them around books and other kids on a weekday morning.
For a bit of context on the place, the Franklin Road Branch serves Franklin Township. For years, the area was served by the Wanamaker Branch, which opened in 1969 on Southeastern Avenue after years of volunteer-staffed service in an empty church building. When the township's growth outstripped it, the Wanamaker was replaced in 2000 by the current Franklin Road Branch, an 18,000-square-foot facility. It's a proper neighborhood branch, and this is one of the programs it runs for the youngest families in the area.

As for the session itself, it's not just sitting and listening. The stories and songs are paired with games and early literacy activities, so the kids are moving and participating rather than just watching. It's designed for that 3-to-6 age range, which is right when a lot of kids are starting to get into stories and songs. The whole thing runs for an hour, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM, at the Franklin Road Branch, 5550 South Franklin Road, Indianapolis, IN 46239.
