Free afternoon of rotating arts workshops for families, with collage, ceramics, cyanotype printing, drawing and flow painting.
Garfield Park Arts Center is hosting a Sampler Day on Saturday, October 24, from 1 PM to 4 PM. It's an afternoon of free arts workshops for friends and families, and the best part is that all the supplies are provided, so you can just show up and get started. You also get to take home whatever you finish.
The lineup covers a good bit of ground. There's collage, ceramics, cyanotype printing, drawing, and flow painting. The classes rotate every hour, which is the real draw here: instead of committing to one thing for the whole afternoon, you can cycle through several different mediums. If you're not sure where you land—whether you're more into the tactile feel of clay or the blue-and-white prints of cyanotype—you have the space to try a few and see what sticks. It's a low-stakes way to spend a Saturday afternoon, and it works just as well if you bring the kids along.

Logistically, it's easy. You can register in advance to secure your spot, or you can just walk in on the day. The whole thing is free, and since the center provides the materials, you don't have to worry about buying your own supplies before you arrive. It's a simple, open-door afternoon at the Garfield Park Arts Center, 2432 Conservatory Dr, Indianapolis, IN 46203, running from 1 PM to 4 PM on Saturday, October 24.
