Free book club session at the Spades Park Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library for seniors and adults.
Quiet Library: a Book Club meets at the Spades Park Branch on Wednesday, November 18, from 3:00 to 4:30 PM. It's a book discussion program run by the Indianapolis Public Library, aimed at seniors and adults, and the format is pretty straightforward: you bring whatever you're currently reading and settle in for a quiet hour and a half of uninterrupted reading and relaxing. It's not a typical book club where everyone reads the same title and debates it; you bring your own book, and the whole point is just to have a dedicated space to get through it.
The Spades Park Branch is a good spot for that. The 7,500-square-foot building was built with a $120,000 grant from the Andrew Carnegie Foundation and opened in 1912, six months after the city's other remaining Carnegie library, the East Washington Branch. It went through a $610,000 renovation in 1987 and celebrated its centenary in 2012, so it's been a part of the neighborhood for over a century.
